Stop Swedish Coal Power Plants

The climate is going to hell, Reinfeldt is acting the climate hero, while the Swedish Government makes huge investments in coal power – one of the most hurtful energy sources, climate wise.

Through state owned company Vattenfall, Sweden opens new coal mines, builds new coal power plants and buys already existing coal power plants across Europe. The result is that Vattenfall now emits twice as much carbondioxide as the entire country of Sweden.

Swedes like to think that Sweden is a shining example when it comes to climate change related issues. But if the coal power plants owned by Vattenfall had been on Swedish ground, Sweden’s official carbon dioxide emissions would be three times as high as they are today. Only Australia, the United States and Canada emit more per capita.

The Swedish Prime Minister; Fredrik Reinfeldt can stop this. As the man ultimately responsible for state owned Vattenfall, it is he who decides the basic regulations for Vattenfall’s operations. And what he does, he does on behalf of the people, because in the end, it is our company.

Only three percent of the Swedish general public want to invest in more coal power. Do you belong to the great majority, who are firmly against new investments in coal? Seize the opportunity to demonstrate to Reinfeldt that we do not accept Sweden’s climate hypocrisy!
